La Musica |
La Musica - Sarasota
April signals the arrival of La Musica International Chamber Music Festival. Outstanding musicians
from Europe and the Americas gather in Sarasota for two and one-half weeks of intense music-making. Five concerts
are the result of daily rehearsals which are open to the public. These rehearsals take place in the Mildred Sainer
Pavilion of New College of Florida. Guest lectures, pre-concert lectures by the musicians, and special events for
young people round out the Festival activities. The concerts will be performed in the newly-renovated and
historically-preserved Sarasota Opera House.

Jazz Festival |
Venice Jazz Festival - Venice
Through a grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice, the Jazz Club of Sarasota sponsors
monthly jazz concerts in Venice as well as the Venice Jazz Festival each fall. The event features an outdoor festival
on the opening day and a major concert on the next day. The club also provides transportation from Venice to the major
events at the Sarasota Jazz Festival in the spring. Check the events page for details on events in Venice.

Season of Sculpture |
Season of Sculpture - Sarasota
Large-scale sculptures from artists throughout the world are showcased along the U.S. 41 portion of
Sarasota's Bayfront. The most famous among tourists is “Unconditional Surrender”, based upon the famous Life magazine
photograph of a Navy sailor dipping and kissing a nurse at the end of World War II. There are twenty five additional
works including one by local artist Dennis Kowal.
